Sophie is a consultant in the Financial Empowerment and Monitoring and Evaluation (FEM-E) Practice at DNA Economics. Since joining DNA in 2023, she has been involved in several projects around consumer financial education, financial inclusion, alternative government payments, and youth employment.
Prior to joining DNA, Sophie served as a Senior Research Analyst at the Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (CENFRI), where she actively contributed to projects in financial sector development throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Her focus areas included instant payment systems, digital identity systems, and inclusive insurance. She has further diversified her professional portfolio through involvement in innovative finance, monitoring and evaluation, and impact investing, providing her with a well-rounded understanding of diverse fields within the financial landscape. Sophie is passionate about leveraging her expertise to foster sustainable development and inclusive growth across various sectors of the economy.
Sophie holds a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from the University of Cape Town. Additionally, she possesses a background in law, acquired during her undergraduate studies. She is also a member of the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA).
